Academic Records and Verifications
The Brown University diploma is produced entirely in Latin (except for name of graduate) and bears the Seal of the Corporation of Brown University in the lower center as well as the signatures of the University President and the Secretary of the Corporation.
The Brown University Official Academic Transcript contains all essential academic data, including dates of attendance, courses taken and passed, grades, transfer credits awarded, degree received and relevant remarks.
Brown University has authorized the National Student Clearinghouse to act as its agent for verifications of student enrollment and Degree Verification.
All currently enrolled students are assigned an expected date of completion.
After graduation, University policy is that all records held by the University must be maintained as they were at the time the degree was conferred.
How to Access Your Academic Records
Brown University complies with the provisions of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 (FERPA), which was enacted to protect the privacy of educational records and to establish the right of students to inspect and review their educational records.
Certain records may exist in other units of the University such as the Office of the Dean of the College, the Graduate School, the Warren Alpert Medical School, and the School of Professional Studies (SPS provides all records for non-credit programs).
